Grandmother's Prophesies

There are two things I can't seem to walk by without stopping to put my money into - photo booths and fortune telling machines. You know, those glass cases with a mechanical bust of a fortune teller? Put your quarter in and moments later a card revealing your future pops out! This one is from July 3rd, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. It has me looking forward to November!

Summer Garden Update

Summer is finally here and I am keeping busy in the garden! If there is anything better than eating sugar snap peas right off the plants I have not found it yet. My zucchini plants have exploded - I love the beautiful flowers, and tiny little zucchini's are making an appearance.

The cherry tomatoes are getting red and fat. Lots of green tomatoes on my other plants but they will be ready soon. Garden fresh tomatoes are so deliciously sweet - the ones from the grocery store just can't compare.

I've all ready picked my carrots and celery. The celery was okay - next year I will try again, planting them earlier and giving them more water. The baby carrots I planted were so yummy I've planted a 2nd crop! I'm still waiting for my onions, peppers, cauliflower and brussel sprouts. I also started some eggplant (hopefully not too late) and am looking forward to eggplant sandwiches later in the summer. Happy gardening and happy eating!

In her own words from her shop profile, " I love working with yarn, especially hand-spun wool and cotton, recycling fabrics and fibers when I can and bringing affordable, handmade items to the marketplace. Sweet Tweet

A sweet little quail paid a visit to my front walk yesterday afternoon. Isn't he a cutie pie? I just love his fancy head feathers! I wonder if he escaped from someone - he seemed very tame and was not afraid of me at all. My husband tried to shoo him off (to protect him from our cats; we love our birdie visitors and don't want to see them eaten.) This little guy did not want to go though. Eventually he made it down to the back yard and hopefully found a cozy spot to nest for the night.

School's Out For Summer!

The school year is winding down - my son only has 4 days left before he says good bye to junior high. The first day of kindergarden seems like it was not that long ago and I am having a hard time believing he will be starting high school in the fall. Wow, the time has flown by fast.

I am waiting with anticipation for summer fun. My son is going to visit grandparents for a month. It's pretty exciting to know that a break from being a mom is right around the corner! My husband and I are looking forward to spontaneous weekends away. I can't wait!

Spotlight on Create A Thought

Congratulations to Create A Thought who is the EtsyBloggers featured blogger for May! This is such a fun shop filled with unique jewelry and journals to suit your every mood.

Seven little robots sitting on a journal

Vintage Button Ring

In their own words from their Etsy profile, "Everyday you are creating thoughts. Thoughts that are interesting and beautiful, profound and deep, silly and funny. Whatever your thought style is, they should be recorded.

CREATEaTHOUGHT's mission is to help you do just that. I provide items that fit your personal writing and recording style. If you find that you are in need of a different style I will strive to create a personalized item just for you! Each journal is created to be unique and one of a kind.
I want to be able to provide you with something that is not mass produced. You will not have to worry about someone saying "I have that same journal!"

What a wonderful concept! When I was a child I found in my parents attic a journal that had belonged to my great great grandmother. Many stories were held within it's worn pages. Stories that had she not written down would have been lost to the family forever. Finding that journal set me on the path of recording my own stories.
